Seoul Fashion Week SS27 season is slowly approaching, and there's no better way to get ahead of it than looking back at what actually happened on the streets this past February - and perhaps build some expectations for what’s coming next. 

While Seoul Fashion Week remains relatively niche compared to the "Big 4" (New York, London, Milan, and Paris), its influence is undeniably expanding, drawing an increasingly global audience of fashion enthusiasts and industry insiders.

This February alone, 15 runway shows brought together 24 designers, showcasing some of Korea’s most exciting names. This September, with the Week running from the 1st until the 6th, that number is set to grow even more, bringing it close to 27. 

But, as with any Fashion Week, the excitement extends well beyond the runway. Seoul’s streets become their own stage, with attendees using this time to experiment with their personal style. 

Whether through bold silhouettes, unexpected combinations or a fresh take on familiar pieces, some of the year’s most interesting street-style moments happen during the most famous weeks in fashion.

So, before the SS27 kicks off, here are some of the pieces and styling details that left an impression on us this February.

Colour appeared way more often than we anticipated. Vibrant reds, blues, pinks, purples, and occasional flashes of orange showed up as real style statements, breaking away from the customary sea of neutrals: a notable shift for a city celebrated for its minimalist, monotone aesthetic.

The best of these looks leaned into contrast rather than restraint: a coordinating set in deep purple and hot pink, a soft fur jacket cut against a sharp orange skirt, chunky red Balenciaga shoes single-handedly elevating an otherwise understated outfit.

Surprisingly enough, some of the most interesting styling moments came from one of the least obvious fashion accessories: pins. 

One look in particular caught our attention: a simple black scarf transformed with nothing more than a handful of pins. These added just enough detail to make the piece feel elevated, so much so that we initially wondered whether it was a designer creation. It turns out it was a completely DIY moment, which somehow made it even better. 

And if piercing your clothes with pins isn't quite your thing, there was another way to add a little extra sparkle: around 20 or so clips carefully placed through slicked-back hair. Not exactly understated, but certainly memorable.

Whether a Barbie lookalike or a princess straight out of a fairytale, princess dresses appeared often enough to earn a mention as well.

These are the kind of pieces that hardly need any styling to make an impression. Their bold volumes and unapologetic shapes made them a particularly striking choice. Perhaps they were not something we expected to see at Seoul Fashion Week, but they certainly made their case.

Perhaps one of the most expected things to see was the continued influence of Korean fashion on modern styling. 

These two looks in particular caught our attention for the way they incorporated Korean traditional elements from head to toe: the white look features the traditional Gat, a hat worn by men during the Joseon Dynasty, while the blue look gives a striking electric twist to the traditional Hanbok.

If the wider 2026 fashion landscape is anything to go by, colour is likely to remain part of the conversation. Turquoise has been having a particularly strong moment this year, and we wouldn't be surprised to see it make its way onto Seoul’s streets this season too. 

We expect bold layering as well. This time with long maxi dresses, perhaps in silk or strapless. Given how big they were this past summer, we're anticipating plenty of new takes. 

We’re also expecting plenty of accessorising. We are definitely aiming for statement shoes, maybe some jelly shoes as well, or bold chains, necklaces or even earrings.

Capris might also make their comeback as well, perhaps in a more sophisticated version, as they appear to have overtaken the Bermuda shorts that dominated previous seasons. 

Whatever the trend may be, we expect to see some electric outfits. And with names like Holy Number 7, LIE and KIMHĒKIM presenting this season - alongside the weather being much more favourable than the freezing February cold - we wouldn't be surprised if attendees go all out to make an impression.
