Seoul Fashion Week SS27 Street Style Trends You Need to Know

‘Hide them, burn them, let them simmer in your closet. Do not bring them out’

We definitely didn’t mean to open our Seoul Fashion Week recap with such a strong statement, but reality didn’t exactly match our expectations.

We don’t want to spoil what that refers to just yet, so you’ll have to stick around until the end to find out. And if you missed on the conversation, head out to our previous blog to see what our Seoul Fashion Week SS27 predictions were.

This season at Seoul Fashion Week gave us a lot to talk about, and we definitely didn’t expect the streets to be quite so full of surprises. From bold animal prints to unexpected styling choices and some wonderfully peculiar DIY moments, SS27 street style proved that there is always room to experiment.

Maxi dresses made a strong appearance, layering came in countless combinations, and jewellery played a major role in bringing outfits together. In other words, Seoul had plenty of tricks up its sleeve.

But not everything we expected made it onto the streets.

Colour, for one, was harder to spot than we anticipated. After it took over Seoul's streets all summer, we assumed SS27 would bring more of the same; instead, monochrome dominated.

Was it the rainy weather or did Seoul just lean into a quieter palette this season? Either way, only a handful of genuinely vibrant looks made it onto our radar.

We also saw fewer extravagant shoes than expected, but luckily, we did spot the jelly shoes that populated everyone’s wardrobe this year.

So, what actually caught our attention? And, more importantly, what got completely banned from Fashion Week this year? Find out below:

The Best Street Style From Seoul Fashion Week SS27

Let the waist do the talking

Corsets took over Seoul Fashion Week in every possible shape and colour, proving just how easily they can transform an outfit.

One look showed how a corset can add structure to a relaxed fit by pairing a romantic, floral corset with an oversized white shirt. Another took a completely different approach.

A black corset layered over a white shirt with black trousers gave the classic monochrome palette a modern edge. Worn by a two-metre-tall man (yes, he was really that tall), it showed how seamlessly corsets can transcend traditional womenswear.

And then, the most unexpected take of all: a corset that looked like a handbag. This glossy green piece featured a top handle that immediately reminded us of the iconic Hermès Birkin. Worn as a top rather than carried as a bag, it blurred the line between clothing and accessory in the most playful way.

Veils are making a comeback

Don’t let anyone tell you that veils are only for wedding days. Seoul Fashion Week just proved that they can be worn in any setting and still make a dramatic statement.

If your mind immediately went to Victorian mourning veils or those glamorous 1960s hats, think again because these veils didn’t just partially cover the face: they completely took over it, and we didn't catch so much as a glimpse of what was underneath.

One look kept things playful: a sheer veil strung with hanging chains, worn over a cropped graphic tee and jelly heels. The other went full drama, pairing black lace with a black top and clawed leather gloves.

When we asked why, the answer was simple: "to focus on the outfit." And honestly, it made perfect sense.

Textured accessories

Layering proved yet again to be one of the best ways to make an outfit stand out. And this time, accessories were the full conversation.

One look layered two handmade crochet pieces to add extra dimension and a pop of colour to the outfit. Elsewhere, two ethnic-inspired outfits were topped off with voluminous fur hats.

Another outfit went all in on accessories, combining bracelets, necklaces and brooches to create a look full of sparkle and detail. Even though the real highlight was the long crystal earrings, perfectly paired with a slicked-back hairstyle.

And finally, we spotted perhaps the most unexpected accessory of all: long scarves, one shaped like soft flowers and the other one in dimensional white beads.

A step closer to what’s next: Y3K fashion

And while some looks paid homage to the past, these two outfits were definitely looking forward. Metallics, sharp silhouettes and futuristic details gave us a glimpse of where fashion could be heading next.

One look embraced the trend from head to toe, pairing a sheer metallic top with a sleek black mini skirt, futuristic sunglasses and fully silver makeup. The second look took a more armoured approach, with a cut-out silver halter layered over a strappy corset belt and wide-leg black trousers. The metallic details gave the outfit a strong, almost cybernetic feel.

Somewhere between cyber and couture, this was Y3K in its purest form: proof that after a season of soft textures and vintage prints, Seoul's streets are already gearing up for something far more futuristic.

Seoul Fashion Week SS27 final remarks

Some fashion moments were expected, others completely took us by surprise, but these Seoul Fashion Week SS27 trends are definitely ones to remember and, hopefully, to look forward to.

We can’t wait to style corsets, play around with textured accessories and perhaps even try a striking metallic look for a Y2K-inspired moment. We will definitely keep a close eye on whichever direction Korean fashion will be going next.

And we will sadly give our final goodbyes to what apparently is the most hated piece of garment of the season.

If you made it this far, you better know that capris were the subject of that opening quote. Supposedly one of the biggest fashion comebacks for 2026, they didn’t exactly receive a warm welcome in Seoul compared to our expectations.

And maybe, just maybe, we are not even that upset about it.

Expectations or not, Korean fashion is constantly changing, with so many new trends coming our way as we take in the current ones. No matter the direction, we will be watching - and we will definitely keep you posted.
